The Taijiquan Biography of Sifu Sergio Pascal Iadarola

In 2003, Sifu Sergio Pascal Iadarola began studying the Large Frame Yang Taijiquan (Yang Cheng Fu lineage) under Sifu Alan Fong in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. He learned the complete set from him, along with several Yang Taiji two-person sets. Although he maintained his practice, it was not until around 2008 that Sifu Sergio began to delve more deeply into studying multiple lineages of Yang Taijiquan.

In 2012, Sifu Sergio began his journey into the Huang Shen Shyan system, a fusion of Fujian White Crane and the 37 postures of Cheng Man Ching Taijiquan. As always, he sought the most authentic transmission, studying under several students of the late Huang Shen Shyan in Taiwan, Singapore, and New Zealand. In New Zealand, he spent several months each year over a four-year period training privately as an indoor student under Wee Kee Jin at his home.
To complete the classical Yang Taijiquan he had begun studying in 2003, Sifu Sergio conducted extensive research throughout mainland China. Eventually, in Shanghai, he was accepted as a private student of Sifu Tian Bing Yuan, the grandson of Yang Taiji Grandmaster Tian Zhaolin, adopted son of Yang Jian Hou, and training partner of the late Grandmaster Yang Shao Hou.
Sifu Sergio received a certificate of completion for the entire Old Yang unarmed Taijiquan system, including the Large Frame, Middle Frame, 64 Small Frame sets, the complete 88 San Shou, Da Lu, Yang Family Ba Duan Jin, and full Tui Shou cycles. This marked the first time a Westerner received such a certificate from the Tian family.

Since 2016, Sifu Sergio has also been accepted as a private student of Sifu Sam Tam in Vancouver, Canada, where he continues to deepen his internal development through Yi Quan standing meditation practices and studies Sifu Sam Tam’s unique version of Yang Taijiquan.

Sifu Sergio Pascal Iadarola has over 45 years of martial arts experience and has dedicated his life to preserving and sharing the Chinese Internal Arts. He does so through his association, the Schools of Kung Fu Department of the IWKA (Internal Wisdom and Knowledge Association)—which now has branches in more than 14 countries worldwide—as well as through the Eternal Spring Institute.
